Good morning world.
Wherever you wake this morning, may the miracle of Christmas break over you like a wave on the sand.
May you have the faith to comprehend the depths of God’s love.
Think on this devastating act of love: God, humbley constrained in flesh for eternity.
God limited His form so that His promises could be heavy and real to you today. He did it so that words like: ‘God is with us’ would be more than cute slogans or thin blankets wrapped around our shivering souls.
Through blood and humiliation, born into dirt, God has come near to us. God sympathizes with us in our weakness. God understands the pains of this life, the frail limits of our human form.
If you have ever doubted that God is for you, if you have ever doubted that He understands your weakness: know that Christmas means that I can type these words today and know they are true:
Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:14-16 ESV)
Are you in need today? In need of mercy? In need of grace? Go boldly to God because it’s Christmas. Because today we celebrate that Jesus is not just some super hero in the sky. He understands.
Whatever your’e going through – He’s been there. He understands. He is indeed Emmanuel: God with us.
