I Will Arise and Go To Jesus
verses by J. Hart

Come, ye sinners, poor and needy,
Weak and wounded, sick and sore:
Jesus ready stands to save you,
Full of pity, love and power:

I will arise and go to Jesus,
He will embrace me in His arms;
In the arms of my dear Saviour,
O there are ten thousand charms.

Let not conscience make you linger,
Nor of fitness fondly dream;
All the fitness He requireth
Is to feel your need of Him;

Now, ye needy, come and welcome:
God’s free bounty glorify:
True belief and true repentance–
Every grace that brings you nigh–
Without money,
Without money,
Come to Jesus Christ and buy.

Let not conscience make you linger,
Nor for fitness fondly dream;
All the fitness He requireth
Is to feel your need of Him;
This He gives you–
This He gives you–
‘T is the Spirit’s rising beam.

Come, ye weary, heavy-laden,
Bruised and ruined by the Fall;
If you tarry till you’re better,
You will never come at all:
Not the righteous–
Not the righteous–
Sinners, Jesus came to call.

View Him prostrate in the garden,
On the ground your Maker lies!
On the bloody tree behold Him,
Hear Him cry before He dies,
“It is finished!”
“It is finished!”
Sinner, will not this suffice?

Lo, the incarnate God, ascended,
Pleads the merit of His blood:
Venture on Him, venture wholly,
Let no other trust intrude:
None but Jesus
None but Jesus
Can do helpless sinners good.

  1. I was introduced to this song last summer and I LOVE it! The last line of the chorus always reminds me of our conversations about not believing God gives us good things…but He does! First and foremost in the person of Jesus Christ! Can we even imagine the 10,000 charms that CHrist has in Himself!?! Praying we let go of the desires of this world and for Him to give His desires to our hearts and that we will be open to His charms! Pleasures forevermore! Love you, friend!
