I saw an excerpt from a study a friend was going through recently and it was basically like: “Don’t forget that you’re always just a breath away from falling away.”
I’ve started to notice that trend in the way people talk in the church sometimes: don’t forget that at every minute of every day the current is dragging you away from God and that it’s your job to paddle to keep up. Don’t forget that there is an evil gremlin-self inside of you who has an agenda 24-7 to steer you away from God and if you give up control for one second that evil gremlin will win.
It seems SO IRONIC to me that this narrative seems to be most prevalent in cultures and communities that teach that there is NOTHING you did to get to God and that there is NOTHING you can do to lose God.
