Happy Christmas Eve
I got the chance to share some of what I’ve been thinking about this Advent at my church a week ago.
It’s been the year of embodiment for me. A year of noticing a million ways I have dismissed or ignored or misunderstood the body; and the million ways I’ve been trained to assess its value or performance with an inventory that assesses things totally unrelated to its design. Bodies are for living in, not looking at. They enable us to exist, to experience the world and one another, and (eye roll) we worry about what they look like while they’re performing these miracles.
