Yearning vs Loving

"I love you" vs. "Love me!"

I’ve been thinking a lot about insecure attachment recently; about that strange sensation of longing, of yearning, of wanting, and how it is distinct from the sensation of love.

I think it was CS Lewis who describes the difference between loving and wanting to be loved. I think he was writing about his dynamic with his wife and the feeling of “I love you” vs “love me! love me!”*

I’m learning to notice the difference in these sensations.
